1.) After looking around tHulu.com we noticed a good variety of current shows. We found a new episode of The Office which airs on Thursday nights on NBC. It is presented with many options for your viewing pleasure. On the left side they list options like embed, share, and details of the specific episode. On the right side of the screen it lists options for a full screen, pop out screen lower lights or high resolution. This episode opened with a Kiva financial ad and ten minutes in we were presented with a Blackberry ad we noticed one more five minutes after that also. Towards the bottom of the page it listed five episodes you can watch from the new season. Also it gave 149 clips from The office, as well as 7 webisodes. There were also discussions included on this page. Hulu.com also offers info about the episodes like the air date, user ratings, runtime and recommended shows you can watch next.

The presentation of this episode was clear with few advertising interruptions. All of the options included are very useful and user friendly. We used the high resolution with the full screen to watch this episode. It also gave bullets on the bottom of the screen with different scenes to let you know where you are in the episode.Hulu.com is a great place to go if you miss one of your shows and don’t have Tivo.

2) When I went to YouTube.com for this assignment, I searched “Grey’s Anatomy Full Episodes” and many other arrangements of key words with the mindset that I would find a full episode. However, all I was able to find were clips from different episodes from the many seasons of this show that airs on ABC every Thursday night at 9 p.m. This video is presented like any other YouTube video on the web. The title was “Greys Anatomy Season 5 Episode 8 – Part 1_6 [HQ],” which is a very recent episode from this season. Like all other YouTube videos, I was able to enlarge the video screen to make it fit my entire computer screen. One thing different that did stand out on this video clip is that the whole time the video was playing, there was a web address at the top of the screen that said “Full Episodes @ www.TvThrone.com.” I actually went to this website just to see what it was all about and it asked me to download a video player called “Zango” to my computer to be able to access many full, free episodes of television shows. I did not trust this website, so I did not download it. A random fan, not a network, posted this video clip on YouTube, which probably explains why the clip only ran for 6 minutes and 56 seconds. Their user name is “snactec25.”

3. Hulu is more structured around tv shows and movies, and even offer channel viewing, whereas Youtube is geared toward home video-type and other short clips. However, it is obvious that they are moving more towards centering around tv and movie viewing. Youtube is providing more full length episodes of regular tv shows. Although, Hulu obviously has Youtube beat on that. Advantages of Hulu vs. Youtube: Hulu is more structured (not as cluttered, cleaner), Hulu has more viewing options, Youtube offers more of a variety, in that you can find anything and everything, Youtube does not have ads before the clips.Youtube becoming more like Hulu may become a good thing. People like structure, and providing more of that, like Hulu, can increase views. People will also possibly begin to watch full episodes and movies on Youtube, instead of the network website or Hulu because that is what they are familiar with.

For me, Hulu and Youtube are so different. They serve different purposes.Of course, Hulu offers better quality, it is clearer and better organized. It always shows the name of the company that made the episode.Youtube on other side doesn't have full episodes, it shows a lot of different stuff with the same name, videos are not categorized well, but the positive thing is that it provides an opportunity for people to post their videos, to show their creativity and socialize with other users. Both sites are great, but serve different purposes.

Personally, I like Hulu better because of how organized it is. I did notice there was a 3 second ad for the Ad Council in the beginning of the clip and 30 second ads for them in the middle and at the end of the episode. Hulu had way better quality because I noticed that the picture on the YouTube clip was ver dark. The Hulu clip also had many different options. It had a closed captioning option, and even another section where you can see recommended clips, more episodes, and more clips. The clips shown on YouTube may not actually be related to the subject matter. I also would not like watching an episode of my favorite show in 5 different pieces. Hulu is definitely more convenient.

Ok, that was a pretty funny episode! You know, when it comes to watching television episodes that I may have missed, I don't really mind having to watch it over the internet. However, when it comes to a show that I often watch and it comes on at a certain time, of course I would prefer to watch it on my tv, but sometimes, thats not possible. With Hulu, I can find, for the most part, what I'm looking for, and the quality is as if I were watching it on the television. The commercial breaks that come in half way through and towards the end aren't bad either. It would be more entertaining if the commercials varied instead of replayed the same one each time. Also, I had to let the episode load for a bit, because if not, it would freeze every few seconds, but again by letting it buffer, I could then watch large segments at a time. Overall, I enjoyed my experiences with Hulu and will use it for other television episodes or movies that I may want to watch.

I have always liked Hulu better. At least Hulu offers the episodes in high resolution. Plus when you watch episodes on Hulu you know you are going to be able to watch the real episode and not just something a user has made.

Obviously, everyone realizes that the quality of Hulu is considerably better than YouTube. I'm still a stubborn YouTube girl at heart though, because there are a ton of hilarious, random, off the wall clips that you won't find on Hulu. While watching the episode on Hulu though, the picture quality is wonderful, and even though there are some ads, I can deal with 15 second of an ad for whatever product is being advertised!

I chose to watch the office, because I love that show. I had never watch anything on hulu before and I must say it is pretty cool. To have access to that much content and to be able to easily find what you are looking for is great. Actually watching the show was a really good experience too, besides the fact of watching a computer screen. The ads that you have to watch are nothing! Especially when you compare it to regular TV. Over all I enjoyed the experience of Hulu. I thought their content is presented in a very organized manner and when actually viewing the content you are just as pleased!

I was never familiar with hulu until now. Actually, I had never even heard of it. i don't use the internet much but if I wanted to look at a video I used to always go to youtube because it was all I knew about. I noticed that hulu is more organized when it comes to finding a particular clip or video. On this blog I watched the office because I really like the show ,but I never get to watch it on TV. The picture was really clear and nothing was cut off!
